Batman Begins essay

Fear is one of the strongest human emotions. Strong enough that people chose to do things based on fear. Fear affects many aspects of someone’s life. This is shown in the movie Batman Begins. The main character, Bruce Wayne uses his fear of bats to pass along his fear to corrupt people. He also uses his fear to help people from these officials. Fear drives people to make selfless acts.
Because Bruce Wayne conquered his fear of bats, his character, Batman uses bats, his old fear, to fight the bad guys of Gotham city. He was afraid of bats since he was a little boy; he wants all the corrupt people in the city Gotham to fear bats as he did. Dr Crane was a corrupt psychologist in a mental facility, because he made his patients sicker than they were, after Dr. Crane did the same to Rachel, Batman gave him a taste of his own medicine. Carmine Falcone said “you always fear what you don’t understand”, he gave fear to the corrupt officials because they might have not understood him. When Bruce Wayne was talking with Carmine Falcone, because he was big shot he said “Now, I wouldn't have a second's hesitation of blowing your head off right here in front of them. And that's power you can't buy! That's the power of fear.” Because he is so powerful and knows that a lot of the people there that night were corrupt and he could end their jobs, and potentially ruin their lives if they spoke up against him. Henri Ducard said “Men fear most what they cannot see“the evil and corrupt people of Gotham City should fear Batman because they can not see him, and when they can, it is usually not good. Batman makes his actions to save Gotham city and the innocent people that these corrupt people are trying to kill.
Bruce Wayne uses his fear to help the good people of Gotham city like Jim Gordon, Rachel, and Mr. Fox and Alfred, and help protect the memory of his parents. His dad once told him “You know why they attacked you don’t you? They were afraid of you….all creatures feel fear…especially the scary ones”. Because he wants to protect these people, he will fight the bad guys of Gotham, he will do anything he can. But at times he can fear himself, like Henri Ducard said” But a criminal is not complicated. What you really fear is inside yourself. You fear your own power. You fear your own anger, the drive to do great and terrible things.” But he does what he feels he has to do for the good of the city.
Fear drives people to make selfless acts, just as how Bruce Wayne does as Batman. He wants the good of his city to prevail over the evil and corrupt people. Fear is a very strong emotion that can heighten all the senses .In the movie Batman Begins, the fear of the unknown is used throughout in different areas of the movie. Though it is first said by Franklin Delano Roosevelt “We have nothing to fear but fear itself!” the scarecrow says it in this movie.
