Se-nior-i-tis(‘sen-nyer-i-tis)-1. The mental state of being of a senior in high school. 2. The typical actions or behaviors of a senior in high school.

3 out of 5 high school seniors have this affliction, which for some people, can be contagious. Once these seniors catch on, there is no help in getting these poor, tired souls back. Senioritis means different things to many different people, mainly though it is the mental state and actions of a senior in high school.
The first part of senioritis is in the mental state of these high school seniors, they start to become lazy and bored. They seem less interested in school stuff and spend more time on other things that mean more to them, of course at this state school does not really mean much. They start to lose respect for authority and tend to not listen to the rules. Of course this is not necessarily the same symptom that happens to everyone, but it does in the majority. They become more laid back and not interested in anything but their friends and just either watching movies, television, or going on the computer.
Some actions and behaviors a student who is afflicted with senioritis will have are; skipping classes, or even skipping school in general, doing bad things to mess with authority figures, not listening to authority and just in general their typical behavior changes, they are less motivated, its sort of like they are depressed but they are not and you can tell, but the symptoms are similar.
These poor high school seniors who have senioritis have an affect on everyone whether they know it or not, they can affect their families, friends, and even just other students. From what people have seen, this can definitely be highly contagious but even more so with friends. When one person does not want to do work, then they just distract the other person enough that they do not want to do work so they do whatever they want while not caring about any repercussions, so they wont do work and more than likely they will skip whatever class it is. That is only one example of the many different mental processes and behaviors of the afflicted senior. Unfortunately, there is no known treatment and there is nothing anyone can do to help these poor souls. Just let this affliction take its’ course and hold on to your seats, it will be a bumpy ride.
