Batman Begins essay

Fear is one of the strongest human emotions. Strong enough that people chose to do things based on fear. Fear affects many aspects of someone’s life. This is shown in the movie Batman Begins. The main character, Bruce Wayne uses his fear of bats to pass along his fear to corrupt people. He also uses his fear to help people from these officials. Fear drives people to make selfless acts.
Because Bruce Wayne conquered his fear of bats, his character, Batman uses bats, his old fear, to fight the bad guys of Gotham city. He was afraid of bats since he was a little boy; he wants all the corrupt people in the city Gotham to fear bats as he did. Dr Crane was a corrupt psychologist in a mental facility, because he made his patients sicker than they were, after Dr. Crane did the same to Rachel, Batman gave him a taste of his own medicine. Carmine Falcone said “you always fear what you don’t understand”, he gave fear to the corrupt officials because they might have not understood him. When Bruce Wayne was talking with Carmine Falcone, because he was big shot he said “Now, I wouldn't have a second's hesitation of blowing your head off right here in front of them. And that's power you can't buy! That's the power of fear.” Because he is so powerful and knows that a lot of the people there that night were corrupt and he could end their jobs, and potentially ruin their lives if they spoke up against him. Henri Ducard said “Men fear most what they cannot see“the evil and corrupt people of Gotham City should fear Batman because they can not see him, and when they can, it is usually not good. Batman makes his actions to save Gotham city and the innocent people that these corrupt people are trying to kill.
Bruce Wayne uses his fear to help the good people of Gotham city like Jim Gordon, Rachel, and Mr. Fox and Alfred, and help protect the memory of his parents. His dad once told him “You know why they attacked you don’t you? They were afraid of you….all creatures feel fear…especially the scary ones”. Because he wants to protect these people, he will fight the bad guys of Gotham, he will do anything he can. But at times he can fear himself, like Henri Ducard said” But a criminal is not complicated. What you really fear is inside yourself. You fear your own power. You fear your own anger, the drive to do great and terrible things.” But he does what he feels he has to do for the good of the city.
Fear drives people to make selfless acts, just as how Bruce Wayne does as Batman. He wants the good of his city to prevail over the evil and corrupt people. Fear is a very strong emotion that can heighten all the senses .In the movie Batman Begins, the fear of the unknown is used throughout in different areas of the movie. Though it is first said by Franklin Delano Roosevelt “We have nothing to fear but fear itself!” the scarecrow says it in this movie.

To a Young Girl,A William Butler Yeats poem

To a young girl

My dear, my dear, I know
More than another
What makes your heart beat so;
Not even your own mother
Can know it as I know,
Who broke my heart for her
When the wild thought,
That she denies
And has forgot,
Set all her blood astir
And glittered in her eyes.

Thinking paper

I understand what Bruno Bettelheim is saying, and I agree with that in some fairy tales, like Peter Pan because I was adopted, and I believe everyone deserves a neverland.
I believe that fairy tales can be therapeutic, because we normally read them to children when they are young to calm them down for bedtime, and as well as criminals in jail, they read them to calm down too. You might be able to tell a lot of personal characteristics about yourself and other depending on the favorite fairy tale.
Depending on the fairy tale, you can reveal inner truths about you, and your inner self. They can be revealed in any matters of way, through Peter Pan by wanting to be little and safe, and never grow up, or by being like Snow White, taking care of everyone. As I will be using Peter Pan as the fairy tale I refer to most, seeing as its my favorite.
I have many inner conflicts, like the surprise of being adopted, and my birth mother dying, and of how I never knew, many other things like my sexuality, and most likely I haven’t discovered any others yet.
Only in Peter Pan do I see anything of being adopted. I see no comparison to even discovering yourself and what you believe in.
I believe that there should be a more cultural variety of fairy tales, which would make it easier for most people to connect with.

Place Paragraph

Near Times Square, there is a sanctuary called central park, a beautiful part of heaven, in this wild, noisy place called New York City. All around there are: trees, shrubbery, rocks, water, people, and their pets, and horse drawn carriages. Across the street it is back to reality of the real world that they call New York City. Now down many streets we finally reach Times Square bright, loud, but somehow comforting but at the same time overwhelming.
Down a couple blocks there is the building in which they make the New York Times, it looks like a postcard dark but not too dark, light but not too light, somehow a bit unnerving but nevertheless beautiful.
New York City is a whole world of its own it can be most things you dream of about or even see on TV or postcard. All in all New York City feels like home in a strange yet delightful way.

Delilah essay

Ernest Hemingway once noted “When writing a novel a writer should create living people; people not characters. A ‘character’ is a caricature.” By this he means, when a writer needs people for a novel, their personality should be modeled from real people’s emotions, not from their imagination. This is demonstrated in Monkeys by Susan Minot, through Delilah by her strength. Delilah is a character in the novel that demonstrates how an author brings a character to life. Delilah comes to life to the readers when she shows what its like to live in a family.
In the chapter “Hiding” the Vincent family is getting ready to go to church. While Mum was getting everyone ready, Susan Minot states “Delilah comes half-hurrying down the stairs, late looking like a ragamuffin with her skirt slid down to her hips and her hair all slept on wrong” (1 and 2). This relates to the reader, the one who goes to church sometimes, and understands how much time it takes to get ready for church. Delilah coming down the stairs late reflects how other kids are also late, but shows other reactions from parents.
In the chapter “Party Blues” Delilah’s personality was as anyone’s would be. She acted like any teenager would, she was in her own little world, and didn’t really care about her sisters, she was with her friends, and having a good time.
In the chapter “Thorofare”, when she threw her mothers ashes in the lake she had the same reaction as most people would. (157) It showed that she misses her mother.

PBJ essay

The peanut butter and jelly sandwich has been the traditional American snack since before you were born. It’s delicious, nutritious and easy to make, it will satisfy your hunger and it only takes a minute or two to create. So if you have time to spare, pull up a chair, butter knife, peanut butter, jelly and bread.
Before we begin, make sure you have the necessary ingredients. A jar of peanut butter, a jar of jelly, a plate, a butter knife, and bread will do. You can choose the different types of the ingredients; chunky or smooth peanut butter, different types of jelly and different types of bread. So let’s begin, remove two pieces of bread from the bag and place them on the plate next to each other. Then open the jar of peanut butter, use the knife and scoop out about a spoonful of its contents or what you think is enough, you can always go back for more later, gently spread it on one piece of bread evenly, until the entire piece is covered, if you feel you don’t have enough, this is the time to add more. After that, wipe the knife with a napkin and close the jar of peanut butter. Open the jar of jelly, take the knife and take about the same amount that you used for the peanut butter to spread gently on the other piece of bread. But be careful, it’s hard to spread and it may take up a fair amount of time. Gentleness at this point is advised, be very careful and try not to rip the bread. When you feel you have enough jelly on it, close the jar of jelly. Now in one swift movement, place the piece of bread with peanut butter on top of the piece of jelly on it, making the peanut butter side touch the jelly side cut the pieces down the middle and enjoy. You have just made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Good job!
There can always be difficulties involved in making a simple sandwich, the jelly is difficult to spread, and maybe when you spread it too hard you might rip the bread. If that happens, you’re probably going to need a different piece of bread. But even if you rip it on the peanut butter side, just add more peanut butter; it won’t drip off if there is enough.
Now you’ve learned how to make a tasty snack. Fix your hunger and eat it, but before you get too comfortable, pour yourself a glass of milk and sit down and relax. Remember, you can always go back and make another if you’re still hungry.

Personal narrative

“Only the gentle are ever really strong”-James Dean. This quote shows that gentle people can be strong because they have to deal with more bad stuff then others. Adoption is not really understood by people who do not live with it. When people find out about it, it is life changing. Finding out something life changing is not easy for anyone.
I remember being called into my parents’ bed room one night, back in 1995
“Have you ever noticed that you don’t really look like us?” asked Mom.
“Well I guess so,” I thought out loud.
“You know we both love you very much…” Dad said.
“But,” Mom added in, “you look different because you have another Mommy and Daddy. Which means we adopted you, your other parents did not really have a good life, and they decided to let us have you baby.”
“We can talk about it anytime you want,” Dad told me.
After that night, they started showing me pictures of them and the letters my birth mom wrote to me. Which they told me many times that they were not allowed to have because of the adoption agency, but thanks to our social worker we got that stuff.
“Chellie, come here a minute honey,” Mom exclaimed, “look at this, this lady here is your birth momma and these girls are your birth sisters and on the back are their names and birthdays”
“Oh, they are pretty,” I said
“She wrote us these letters, honey you should read these,” Mom said as she was taking the letters out. But there was only four letters and the social worker had not been here for a while. So we figured something was up, at that time we found out the horrible news of my mother dieing.
That was the hardest point in my life. I was very emotional and would cry every day at home. This of course was when all of these “Yo momma” jokes became popular and stuff like “you’re adopted” would be considered as being a diss or a put down, but every time I heard a “yo momma” joke I would say “oh sorry she’s dead but nice try”
When I heard a “you’re adopted” joke I would just reply “yes I am, how can I help you?”
But it was never really easy for me at all, and it still is not. But no one could understand how I felt, it was very complicated. Even to this day I feel bad saying it, but whenever someone’s parent dies I do not feel bad for them because my mom has been dead since 1993, two years after she had me. I know it seems awful, and I really am a sensitive person, but my mom has been dead longer, so I feel that they should get over it because I lived my whole life without her with me. I feel worse as I recently found out how she died and it has been a rough time and I still think about her all the time and I always will, and now I’m a lot better. There is power in being gentle, you know what you have been through and knowing what happened to you happens to other people is a hard concept. In my opinion someone who is gentle, really is a strong person and can deal with a lot of stuff and in the end, they will always win.

definition paper

Se-nior-i-tis(‘sen-nyer-i-tis)-1. The mental state of being of a senior in high school. 2. The typical actions or behaviors of a senior in high school.

3 out of 5 high school seniors have this affliction, which for some people, can be contagious. Once these seniors catch on, there is no help in getting these poor, tired souls back. Senioritis means different things to many different people, mainly though it is the mental state and actions of a senior in high school.
The first part of senioritis is in the mental state of these high school seniors, they start to become lazy and bored. They seem less interested in school stuff and spend more time on other things that mean more to them, of course at this state school does not really mean much. They start to lose respect for authority and tend to not listen to the rules. Of course this is not necessarily the same symptom that happens to everyone, but it does in the majority. They become more laid back and not interested in anything but their friends and just either watching movies, television, or going on the computer.
Some actions and behaviors a student who is afflicted with senioritis will have are; skipping classes, or even skipping school in general, doing bad things to mess with authority figures, not listening to authority and just in general their typical behavior changes, they are less motivated, its sort of like they are depressed but they are not and you can tell, but the symptoms are similar.
These poor high school seniors who have senioritis have an affect on everyone whether they know it or not, they can affect their families, friends, and even just other students. From what people have seen, this can definitely be highly contagious but even more so with friends. When one person does not want to do work, then they just distract the other person enough that they do not want to do work so they do whatever they want while not caring about any repercussions, so they wont do work and more than likely they will skip whatever class it is. That is only one example of the many different mental processes and behaviors of the afflicted senior. Unfortunately, there is no known treatment and there is nothing anyone can do to help these poor souls. Just let this affliction take its’ course and hold on to your seats, it will be a bumpy ride.

persuasive essay

Have you ever been on the computer at school researching information, or trying to show students something on the internet, and it has been blocked? There is no reason to block everyone in an entire school from accessing information.
Students need to access certain information through the internet that they can not access any other way. So what is the point of restricting this information? Students have many topics to do research on, most sites that, more than likely could be very helpful to them are blocked.
So it is understandable if some people might have a reason like; students would be on inappropriate sites during school hours, not doing their work. Well they could just unblock websites that are student appropriate. For example, there really is no reason to block free host websites, or even paranormal websites. What if a student has to do a paper about the paranormal and do not really have access to a computer anywhere else? They would have to use a book, but most books would be out dated, the internet is updating all the time.
Even teachers can not get past blocks to show their students what they want to. Some teachers like to use the internet to show their students things that are relevant to the lesson or the class. A lot of the time those teachers have, for whatever reason, been blocked from showing their students information. There really is not a point for most of the blocks in this school anyway.
There is no reason to restrict everyone at school from accessing certain information. Information is hard to get when people at school are restricted to access it. If they unblock it, some students could take it too far, but not if they unblock the right things. Urge the school people who are allowed to block information to fix it, make them unblock the student appropriate sites, including free hosts, religions, paranormal, and fashion. There is no reason to restrict information.

Research paper on Kid Cudi

Although he has been on the scene for a while, Kid Cudi has brought his new sound mainstream, which fuses alternative rock, hip-hop and R&B. ("Kid Cudi Biography," 2009). Born in Cleveland, Ohio he has lived in Brooklyn for the past 3 years, which probably had a significant impact on him. The lyrics he uses in his songs can hit people emotionally, and get them involved. In order for someone to open up like he has in his songs either takes a lot of courage, or he just knows that other people feel the same way.
William Modisane lived in South Africa until the destruction of Sophiatown in 1958, and moved to Britain and became an actor who appeared in many controversial plays by Athol Fugard. ("William Modisane," 2002). Shortly after that, he became a play writer, and an author in general, he wrote about things that have happened in his life all written under his pen name Bloke Modisane, he died in 1986 in Dortmund West Germany.
The song Day ‘n’ Nite by Kid Cudi (Appendix A), and the poem Lonely by Bloke/ William Modisane (Appendix B) focuses on emotions to captivate either the reader or listener. Since emotions are what drive some people, both of these pieces of art are very captivating.
These works also share similarities and differences. The theme of the song is about a man who is lonely “The lonely stoner seems to free his mind at nite He’s all alone through the day n nite”. The theme of the poem is also about being lonely “it gets awfully lonely, lonely;” They also both focus on getting someone that person can’t have for whatever reason.” The girl he wants don’t seem to want him too. It seems the feelings that she had are through. Through.” And in the poem, “like it's for you I scream.” Repetition is prevalent throughout pieces, the word “nite” in the song and many words in the poem, like “lonely”, “shout” and more. They both have conflict; man versus self. Stated in the song; “Day n nite. I toss and turn; I keep stressin’ my mind, mind.” And in the poem “I talk to myself when I write, shout and scream to myself, then to myself scream and shout: shouting a prayer, screaming noises, knowing this way I tell the world about still lives; even maybe just to scream and shout.” Both of these show that the writer is having a hard time with himself and with what is going on around him. Last but not least, both of these pieces of art have imagery. In the song it shows “The sun is shinin’ man he’s super cool.” This would leave a picture for the listener of a cool looking guy in the sun. In the poem, “but you hear me clear and loud: echoing loud; like it's for you I scream.” This has an effect of showing people what is going on by using sounds, like screaming and echoing.
These pieces of work also have contrasts that make them different from each other. The point of view for both, start off with first person point of view. Shown in the song; “Day n nite. I toss and turn; I keep stressin’ my mind, mind. I look for peace, but see I don’t attain.” There are many I’s in this. From the poem “like it's for you I scream.” The use of the I. But after some time, the point of view of the song changes into third person “The lonely stoner missed his solo doe low. He’s on the move, can’t seem to shake the shade. Within his dreams he sees the life he made.” Just like that the song went from talking about himself, to what could be another person. Both of the pieces have different things that the other doesn’t have. In the song there is Onomatopoeia when he says “A silent sleeper, you won’t hear a peep, peep.” And obviously the word peep sounds like what is said, peep. In the poem there is Alliteration when he says “scream and shout:” They both start with an “s”. There isn’t any in the song. A last literary element is a metaphor, and there are two in the song that are recognizable, “He seems alive, though he is feeling blue. The sun is shinin man he’s super cool.”
Since emotions are what drive some people, both of these pieces of art are very captivating. The poem “Lonely” by William Modisane and song “Day ‘n’ Night by Kid Cudi have overall the same theme, loneliness, and focus on people’s emotions. These pieces also share; repetition, conflict, and imagery along with the theme as I have stated above. These pieces have differences in point of view, only the song has onomatopoeia and a metaphor, and just the poem has alliteration. When a piece of work grabs your emotions, it usually is an interesting thing to pay attention to. It is up to you if you want to pay attention to it since most people don’t seem to pay attention to their emotions anymore.

Slumdog Millionare review

Have you ever been on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”? More than likely not, but you have watched it at home, screaming the answers at the television, admit it. Well Jamal Malik was on this show in India. His story will captivate your heart.
Slumdog Millionaire is this movie. The director, Danny Boyle does what he can to make this movie hit a place in the viewers’ heart. The actor who plays Jamal, Dev Patal could hopefully make it big in Hollywood, or at least Bollywood. He is the younger brother looking for the love of his life. The actor who plays Salim, Madhur Mittal makes his character a bad man, but also relatable which has been expected in newer movies. The actress who plays Latika, the love of Jamal’s life, is Freida Pinto; she is one of the main attractions of the movie making everything lighter and more fun. Overall this movie is 3 out of 5 stars. Not loveable, but you can’t hate it either, just a movie that should be watched by everyone.
Salim and Jamal are brothers, after something very much unexpected happens they are on their own. Many different things happen to them and they get out of it the best they can. But living in the slums of Mumbai, India isn’t the best place to be. After they have grown up and have jobs, Jamal decided to go on the game show “Who wants to be a Millionaire” because everyone in India gathers to watch the show, he is trying to get Latika to find him. Jamal is one of those guys who you just can’t hate but there is nothing particularly special about him. Salim on the other hand, you know from the beginning he is mischievous and causes problems, which foreshadows the things that happens throughout the movie. Latika is just a whole different story, throughout the movie you feel sorry for her, and the ending is just amazing everything fixes itself. But going back to basics, the general gist of the movie is that Jamal wins a million dollars and causes the government to be suspicious of him. Overall, the theme is to never underestimate yourself or others.
This movie has an eclectic soundtrack, even though it takes place in India, of course is has Hindu music, but there’s also hip hop music and even some Spanish music. Throughout the film, the cinematographer did an excellent job in captivating the audience’s attention. Using wide angles and focusing in on something very quickly. It could be compared to the movie Citizen Kane although not the same, but it is similar to it.
Overall it is a pretty good movie, definitely a movie to watch. It brings a good message to people, if you have kids it would be good to show them, just as a forewarning there is violence and some language but you can fast forward those parts. But just the way the movie feels seems like a good message to give your kids, go for your dreams no matter what, and you just might reach them. This is a movie that you will not necessarily love but you will not hate it either. There is a really good theme which can be interpreted in a lot of different ways and just the way this film is shot makes it a must see.

narrative of my dog

The people I love most all leave me in the morning. Being a dog, it is hard to cope with that idea, but I put up with it anyway, because in the end, they always come back for me. But until then, I will just lay down at home being a good dog, waiting for my Chellie to get home.
In the morning, Chellie lets me outside to go potty, and then when I go back inside I ask, “Chellie, can I have a cookie please?”
“Of course you can” she says, and she gives me a cookie
“Thank you” I say
“You’re welcome, bye baby, see you when I get back”
After that, Mommy gives me breakfast. After that Chellie leaves first then Mary then Mommy and Daddy, which leaves me at home with the cat and Pop-pop.
Well now it’s the middle of the day and I have to go potty, so I bug Pop-pop to let me out so I can go potty. He always gets mad at me and that’s not fair, it is not my fault that I have to go potty. After he lets me out and whistles for me very loud that it hurts, but I know it means I have to go inside so I can get more cookies. But sometimes he lets me out, but he chains me up outside so I just lay down and wait, I talk to my neighbors birds though.
“Hello birdies!”
“Hi Missy,” they say
“Sometimes I wish I could fly like you,” I say
“It is kind of fun” they say, like I have not noticed or anything
“But you guys are jumpy a lot” I say, because it is true, they jump at every noise
“Well you whine a lot” they say
But then I don’t talk to them anymore because they are right. After he lets me in, I go upstairs so he will not yell at me and I wait for Chellie to get back. But something else happens, Mommy comes home, but only for a little while, that is when I know that Chellie is coming home very soon.
I thought I just heard a bus. I did! Chellie is home! I run down the stairs as fast as I can to go see her. She opens the door and says:
“Hi baby!” and she pets me
“Chellie! I missed you!” I say
“Aw I missed you too. How was staying home?” she asks
“Bad, you know how he gets with me” I tell her
“Oh yes I do, I’m sorry baby” she says and I know she means it.
So after she lets me out when she gets the mail, and after I come back inside, we both go upstairs to her room, I lay down on the floor and she goes on her computer. I don’t like it when she is on there because she does not spend her attention on me like she does when she watches the tv.
Throughout my day, I lose the people I love, get let outside a lot, and do a lot of waiting, but thankfully it all pays off in the end. The part that’s best about being a dog is seeing the ones I love at the end of the day, even when they are worn out and tired, when they see me their faces light up and it’s the best feeling in the world.

hippie paper

Hippies, Vietnam, and the Anti war culture.

In 1959, the United States went to war with Vietnam. This was a war without distinct battle lines or fixed objectives, which made the traditional concepts of victory and defeat, become blurry. Many people became upset about what happened and took a decidedly peaceful stance on this war. They eventually earned the name “hippies”. As a result of the displeasure with the Vietnam War, the hippie culture has impacted music, movies and TV shows during the 1960s and 1970s.
The Vietnam War angered some of the nation, because it was a very long war, most people thought it was unnecessary. When the U.S went to Vietnam, we had a huge investment of blood and money, a lot of soldiers fought in this war and we spent a lot of money on it. But we could not achieve our goals of; the liberation of all occupied countries and colonies from the Cold War. It tore the nation apart.
Politics played a huge role in the Hippies’ lives. Having strong feelings that the Vietnam War was very unnecessary, and had mixed feelings on the Civil Rights Movement, the Hippies made their beliefs of peace, love and happiness and more known to the world. They did this in many ways including musical shows, pacifist folk songs, and through peaceful sit ins. But none of their actions were more seen and heard of than their protests and rallies. They put together a protest larger then ever before. Once organized not just hippies came, but students, intellectuals, radicals, and citizens of all classes took part in it. This protest was held in Washington D.C around 1969 in the heart of the country. 250,000 protesters gathered for one common goal. They wanted their troops to come back home and for the United States involvement in the war to be ended.
On November 5th 1966 in New York City there was a walk for Love and Peace and Freedom over 10,000 people showed up. They showed their dislike for the war using their anti war protests and leaflets, anything they could do they would do it.
All hippies were young 15-25 years old. They left their families and did it for many different reasons. Some rejected their parents’ ideas, some just wanted to get away, and others simply were outcasts who could only fit in with the Hippie population. Most Hippies came from wealthy middle class families.
There were counter-cultures before the Hippies were named that. The Bohemians started in the late 19th – early 20th centuries. They were artists, writers, musicians, and others who had not found their spot in conventional society. But because Bohemians lived in their own little areas, the middle class did not see too much of these types of people but those they did not know, they did not like. The middle class looked down on them because they were “lazy and immoral” the dislike was mutual. The poets and the painters, for the most part, did not care who approved of their lifestyle. The other counter-culture arose in 1948, John Clellon Holmes, a novelist, and Jack Kerovac, a poet, came up with the term “beat generation” to distinguish themselves from the Lost Generation of the 1920s. The phrase became famous when the New York Times Magazine published an article by Holmes named “This Is the Beat Generation”. Like all bohemians before them, the beatniks, as they were commonly called, were a small group of struggling writers, artists, musicians, and malcontents. Though few of them left their mark in history, they began a new trend that would evolve into the hippies of the 60s and beyond. They were famous for both their controversial work, be it their music, poetry or artwork and their lifestyles; they were promiscuous and were quite willing to experiment with drugs. But more than anything else they offended middle-class values because they seemed to live happily without the stresses of day jobs. Some didn’t have jobs, but the ones who did didn’t take their jobs so seriously.
Hippies did not pick their name, Michael Fallon, a reporter for the San Francisco Examiner, wrote a story in 1965 about a new bohemian lifestyle. He got that name by shortening Norman Mailer’s term “hipster” and applied it to the second generation who moved into the Haight Ashbury district from North Beach. Though hippies only worked a little, they still had a little amount of money, most spent it on drugs like; marijuana and LSD. In which the hippie lifestyle included a lot of. Most hippies used these drugs to get away from their every day living for a little while. Be it family issues, or just life in general, drug trips helped them get away from the “real” world and move on to a complete other world where everything is ok, and will just get better.

Another big part of the hippie lifestyle was the press. The underground press was written by hippies so of course it would support the protests. It wrote about music, advertised (and staged) rock concerts. They let the hippie community know where to find free, or cheap food, clothing, medical care, and the best head shops (places to buy pipes, rolling papers, and other drug paraphernalia). They also wrote about sex, drugs, and religion. Hippies have appeared in movies like Dazed and Confused, and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Hippies started to like music more when they smoked marijuana, it was more meaningful.
A second part of the hippie lifestyle was their music. They used music in many different ways, like storytelling, being peaceful, and even during protests. Music was a part in the drugs as well. Many big musicians were around during this time like; Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin to name a few. Many of these musicians made it into the media.
Hippies have left a lasting impression on American society. Many of their beliefs are believed today, even though now not so many people act on their political, and other feelings. We still have a war going on now, which angers people. As a result of the displeasure with the Vietnam War, the hippie culture has impacted music, movies and TV shows during the 1960s- the1970s and even today.

Is John Locke a Romanticist?

John Locke had a lot of stuff happen to him, he went from foster home to foster home, and never met his actual parents. Until one fateful day, he met his mother when he was at work, and eventually met his father. John found out his dad needed a transplant, so John donated his kidney. He ended up on an island, lost. He had innocence before he met his father; he got all messed up after his father conned him to give him his kidney, then just left him in the hospital and never talked to him again. He has an extensive amount of inner experience after all of this has happened, which helps his intuition. His intuition is to follow many signs of nature, to feel what is going on around him, listen to his dreams, and his emotions causing him to travel the island. This really shows when he says; “The Island will tell us what to do”. His inspiration from nature causes him to follow all of his feelings and follow his intuition. He is imaginative when he thinks of ways and machines to open the hatch that he and Boon find. John Locke has all but one characteristic of a Romanticist. This proves he is a Romanticist.

Hurricane Season

Hurricane Season
A hurricane strikes at anytime
She was in its path
Like a hurricane, it left a terrible mess behind
As it was spinning
She was losing her mind
The hurricane hit her really hard.
Her house was in a wreck.
They found her, and told her to go back
She couldn’t.
The hurricane hit too hard
She never went back.
The storm took her with it.

Walk essay from like 10th grade

After trying to go on many walks, going to Onondaga Lake Park with my mom to go on an actual walk, but there wasnt one, we walked for about a mile and a half. We talked about what we were doing over the summer. It was nice being without my little sister. But after a few weeks, my mom and I finally arrived at our first walk. At the beginning, during registration, and events leading up to the walk, it was very intimidating to say the least. We arrived there fairly early, so we had to sit and wait for at least a half hour. When it finally became time to walk, I had low energy, but I just wanted to get it over with. It was hectic trying to have everyone leave the same area at once, but once my mom and I started walking past the moms and their strollers, we got more into it. We talked about the day, and how it was going so far. The scenery was pretty, but I like Onondaga Lake Park better. Even though both places do not smell so good. My mom and I talked about our future, and some of her past. Even though this walk was The March of Dimes', March of Babies, my mom only brought $20 because we did not know what to do. I thought I did good walking all 3 miles, because I do not get or do much exercise, my mom kind of walks fast, but she slowed down a little bit for me, I walked a bit faster than usual though. We got back earlier than I expected. My mom went to get food, I had to stay in the car, I was really sore, and it hurt to move, and it took a while to catch my breath. Although it was only like 53 degrees I was sweating, and very warm. My mom went up tp the place to get food and to go to the bathroom. I was in the car for maybe 10 minuets, maybe more. I watched crowds of people slowly trickle in. My mom finally came back to the car with the same food for us both; a Cesar salad, mini pretzels, a hot dog, and chips. I was thankful that they provided all of this for free basically, and they also provided bottled water. I did not feel we contributed to The March of Dimes much, and I did not meet anyone. I just stuck with my mom because I felt a little bit uncomfortable.

The American Dream

The American dream can be interpreted in many ways, for many different people, but what I think it could be is, The people will be rich marry the "trophy husband/wife" have more houses and cars than they can count on their fingers and toes, have possibly one child and spoil them. Being so rich they could do whatever they please. Not work, and stay in one of their huge mansions, or their less big beach house. They would also get whatever they want. Their houses would have movie theaters in them, with as much popcorn as they want. They would have a big, beautiful room to share with their trophy husband or wife.

Mondays

When its Monday, its the hardest to get out of bed. School seems to last forever. No one can function well on Mondays. Monday is the worst day of the week. Provided that there was either a long vacation, or a snow day or no school on friday, it is the worst day of the school week. Unless you are on vacation, and have something planned for monday, you could care less about that day. Everyone hates mondays. Hearing the word "monday" spoken makes me think of being extremely bored, and something that will take a very long time. Most likely everywhere or anywhere you go, monday is the time when you do nothing.

Love

I found my 11th grade English folder and I've decided to write what I've written.

Love is like flowers, your love can die out after a while. Just like flowers if your love brakes it is gone forever, but it can grow again. Although, seeds aren't involved it is pretty much the same thing. Even though flowers don't have a hard time with much, love takes years to find. Human love is very complex and takes more time than flowers to grow. But love can be many different things, in many ways to a lot of people. Love is different for everyone, everyone feels love sooner or later. Love can be exciting, interesting, complex, and even daring.
